Video 6 [Artist Talk Series] "The Wait We Carry" How it fits in the theme

Believe it or not, in its simplest form, “The Wait We Carry” is actually a self-portrait.

It is a work of art that shares my perspective, my thoughts and my experiences.

In Video 6 / Day 6 of this 10-Day Video Series we’re talking about the people and props used for “The Wait We Carry” and the significance behind them.

To re-introduce myself, my name is Clifton Henri, nationally-recognized, award-winning fine art photographer and I love talking about the details.

The details, the props, the locations and characteristics about the subject all help to tell the story.

Thank goodness for places like Etsy and Craigslist…

I love thrift shopping, especially when I’m on the road but sometimes it's just easier to do an online search, especially if I’m looking for something specific.

Finding the military helmet was EVERYTHING for this piece.

I needed World War II vibes, and a “Band of Brothers” or “Platoon” aesthetic.

The next most important piece was finding the bag or duffle to symbolize the “burden” / the “wait” we carry.

And funny enough… I’d been carrying around the perfect bag all along.

Next up is Day 7 and we’ll recap the actual day of the photoshoot.

We’ll talk about some of the issues I had to figure out on the fly, what was playing on the stereo and a bunch of other details

And of course is always unpredictable when working with young people. Lol

Tune in for: THE DAY OF THE SHOOT
